Dambulla, a large town in the Matale district is located in the central province of Sri Lanka. Its situation; 148 kilometres north east of Sri lanka’s capital – Colombo, and 72 kilometres north of Kandy, makes the city a major junction between two important cities in the country. Dambulla was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991 and it is the entrance to the cultural triangle of Sri Lanka. This whole sale market, located south of the city center, offers visitors a fascinating look at the diverse array of produce that is grown in the country.
